Ah Jenny, how fun this is for me to see you as a mom! I am so proud of you. Your illustration of the meringues were perfect! That is Bec and Katie's favorite sweet to eat. I pipe them out in little coins and we eat them like cookies. Sure did enjoy seeing ya'll at Christmas - give Josie a kiss for me. love you

Having a baby DOES change everything, but yes, you can't imagine how until one infiltrates your home. I think my little Joslyn is about the same age as your little Josie. We may need to swap some baby food recipes!

Hi Jennifer,
I came home after a busy day and was so delighted to have your package waiting for me! I couldn't help myself...I dove into your cookies! They are very good and perfect with a cup of tea. Everything held up well in transit. What a warm gift your package is ... and truly appreciated. Thank you!

I enjoy reading each and every one of your blogs, and so far every recipe of yours that I have tried has been a success! It is a gorgeous pic of Josie at Christmas and made me feel so nostalgic of when my two girls were babies! They continue to amaze, surprise, alarm and delight me even after nineteen years and it is impossible to imagine life without them. Enjoy every moment of your precious baby, and hope you get lots of time in your kitchen too in 2008. The meringue recipe was great - it is summertime here in Sydney, Australia, and we often make a big meringue and pile it up with whipped cream, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and passionfruit pulp for a summer dessert.

Jessie, Thanks, as always for reading. It means a lot :)

Ginevra, I'm so glad to know you've been reading (and made cookies!) Thanks for delurking; best wishes to you too.

Claire, You are always so sweet; thank you. Yes, the first Christmas with a baby was quite magical; we loved every minute of it. I hope yours was fun as well!

Tanna, I'm so happy that the Pay It Forward package arrived safely (I hope nothing was too damaged in the shipping process). And, yes, that's it exactly: when I was pregnant, we referred to the little bean in my belly simply as "the baby," but, of course, after she's here and takes on a life and personality of her own, she is, completely her own individual. And that's something you can't ever prepare for -- who that little individual will turn out to be and how you will relate to her.

Ah Jennifer we are so together here.
The only promise I allow myself is one I know I can keep. Every year the one I make is: do something I've never done before. So far I've successfully kept that promise.
Babies are a wonder in so many ways, yes. I think part of what you were saying that you didn't anticipate is that babies are individuals each in their own right just as we moms and dads are. And each two of us responding to the other sets up a very unique reciprocating relationship that can not be anticipated. The key word and the one I love in there is that reciprocating.
Thank you so much for my lovely goodies. They have arrived and Gorn & I are loving each one!!

You know what one of the great things about a non-everyday blogger...it's a treat when you post! Josie is just precious...I know that y'all must have had such fun at Christmas. I haven't ever made meringue cookies/bowl but I do love them. I'm going to have to do it sometime soon.
